Workshop brief
The Toolkit Hypotheses
- People from underrepresented backgrounds disproportionately experience barriers to their career progression.
- People from underrepresented groups disproportionately experience barriers in accessing professional development opportunities.
- Access to professional development opportunities will help people overcome barriers to their career progression
How we aim to address these issues
We want to develop a resource that provides individuals with the tools they need to tackle the barriers either that they themselves are experiencing or that they are failing to remove for others or even perpetuating. We believe this will help those from under-represented groups, who are most likely to have been affected by these barriers, to have better access to professional development opportunities and flourish in their healthtech careers.
Background to the workshop
So far our team has conducted a literature review. We used the findings of this to design a survey that we circulated throughout the health tech community. The aim of both of these exercises was to help us better understand what the barriers are and which barriers are felt more or less by various groups of individuals.
Aim of the workshop
The aim of the workshop is to:
- identify the opportunity areas where we believe we can have the most impact
- identify 3 solutions we can start to test
