Based on the fantastic work of the Decision-Making & Governance Squad in 2020's strategy development we have compiled a list of "Red button decisions". These are decisions that OHT Directors, @Maxine Mackintosh and @Angela Maragna , would intervene over because they are deemed to be substantially damaging to the organisation, from a cultural, legal or financial perspective.
Red button issues include:
- Substantial abuse of branding (e.g. completely re-creating the logo)
- Not following best practice in the sharing or use of data of members, volunteers and operational OHT information, particularly with external parties (including sending mass emails, transferring contacts etc)
- Partnerships with companies and individuals with values at odds with the OHT values
- Any legal matters or anything that might be unlawful or require legal advice
- Financial matters above a certain threshold (this is currently defined as >£1k)
- Formally closing a Hub/Campaign or pausing a Hub/Campaign
- Use of platforms and software not already in use in the OHT community
- Situations resulting in people feeling uncomfortable, insulted or misaligned which are too challenging to resolve within teams
- Anything that might constitute as a reputational risk to OHT
- General escalation of unresolved challenges
