Our Community Philosophy is the foundation of the Fellowship.
As Fellows, we're not here just to run events or tick off tasks. We're here to build welcoming, equitable communities, create connections that wouldn't otherwise happen, share what we're learning, experiment, and help shape OHT together.
This Charter turns that philosophy into a few practical commitments we make to each other.
Commitment to the Fellowship
Becoming an OHT Fellow implies certain commitments. In this context, by becoming a Fellow you agree to:
- Fellows join for a year and are periodically asked to reconfirm their active Fellowship and re-sign the Charter.
- Dedicate ~2–3 hours per week to OHT activities as needed.
- Endorse and actively engage with OHT’s vision.
- Engage in the Fellowship for sharing, learning, and connecting, with a focus on personal development and community-building.
- Refrain from pitching personal, family, or affiliated companies or engaging in activities for personal commercial gain.
Communication & Participation
- Attend the monthly Fellows call. If you can’t attend, post an update covering your biggest win, biggest block and what’s coming next month. If you miss two of three calls in a quarter, the core team will check in
- Post event or activity feedback to the other Fellows via Slack - so we can all learn together
- Check Slack regularly for updates, respond promptly, and actively engage in discussions.
- Notify the OHT Community Manager promptly if you are unable to continue volunteering.
- Share OHT news and updates with any volunteers working on your tasks.
Project Contributions
- Contribute to at least one project (maximum of three Fellows per project; larger projects should be divided into smaller ones).
